EDITORIAL |
|
Dear members,
Wish you all and your near
and dear ones a very happy and prosperous New Year 2008.
I sincerely express my deep sense of gratitude for your backing
and electing me as a managing committee member and also
nominating me a Hon. Editor (News Letter).
All of us believe that
continuous innovation and creativity are the critical success
factors in today's competitive world. Yesterdays solution do not
work for today's problem because the past is no indication of
present as well as future.
The Textile Association
(India), Mumbai Unit so far has done excellent job in this
regards and continue to strive hard to do so on the future. I am
confident that our unit will bring more information to the
textile field by implementing new concepts and thoughts from
various textile personnel by way of organizing various seminars
by giving opportunities to young talents which is a present day
need. You would agree that news letter would serve as a vehicle
for dissemination of information in this endower.
Your contribution in
making this news letter more lucrative, informative and value
added is humbly expected as this may ultimately contribute to
the growth and stature of the Association.
With ward regards,
Dr. Vijay D. Gotmare

SHORT NOTE |
|
The composite textiles mills find itself trapped between
the machinations of powerloom sector and the cut throat competition in
the global market. At the lower and middle segments of the market the
composite mills are battered by powerlooms.
If the organized mills need definite place in the
textile industry in the years to come, they must decide on going up
market as a quality producer of specialty fabrics and serve the
international as well as the Indian middle and upper class market.
Nevertheless some mills have ventured to start specialty fabrics, most
of the them have yet to reach the international standard.
This weaving seminar will give an opportunity to the
textile technologists to share their thoughts to meet the challenges and
such an interaction will be highly productive.
We are still lacking development in Spinning and weaving
technology upgradation. We need to replace machines with proper choice
of technology and development of modern management styles particularly
for decentralized weaving sectors.
The process of modernization is taking place in the
weaving sector and large number of shuttleless looms are being installed
at various centres. The modern world is more interested in readymade
garments rather than tailor made. Weaving industry will have to meet the
requirement of readymade garment industry.
Readymade garments industry requires wider width and
defect less fabrics. This is possible with installation of more
shuttleless looms. The Indian textile industry will have to be
competitive to face the international competition of textile goods. |
|
TAI SEMINAR |
